WHAM! WHAM!

Those were the pistol shots that woke up little Christie Lucas, early on April the 15th, 1998. Half asleep, Christie crawled from her bed and stumbled toward her Grandma's room.

In the hallway, Christie fell over her old St. Bernard, Schwartzie, who was panting hard and bleeding to death.

"Grandma! Schwartzie's hurt," Christie screamed, running into her Grandma's room. There Christie found more blood, much more. Her only living relative, her Grandma, had been shot to death.

A little later, police officer Johnny Redford found pitiful little Christie huddled in a corner, mumbling incoherently. The officer quickly got Christie a teddy bear to hug. Fortunately that little bear saved Christie's sanity.*

Christie's teddy bears, and many more like them, came from people just like you.

Sometimes a shock or injury can so overwhelm a child that they retreat into a dark place from which they never recover; don't let that happen. A teddy bear placed into the arms of a stricken child, like Christie, could save their sanity.

In the great scheme of things, perhaps a teddy bear given to a traumatized child won’t change the world. But your automobile donation really helps.
