Auto Donation FAQs1. I have a 1991 Olds (98 Regency) that is not working, will you pick it up? 3. Do you accept motorcycle donations? 9. We have a van in Alaska. Can you help us? Automobile Donation FAQs1. I have a 1992 Olds (98 Regency) that is not working, will you pick it up? Usually YES. It is a simple matter to fill out the automobile donation form and submit it. Take a minute or two and fill out the form. Be thorough as it saves time in the long run. You will receive an email with easy instructions to complete your automobile donation within a day or two. 2. One question? What will happen to my automobile after you receive it? Will it be destroyed? Will it be resold? Will it go to parts? I am sentimental and would like to see it go to parts or resale rather than the crusher? Your old automobile will not be junked. Your old car, truck, boat, motorcycle, RV or other vehicle will not be junked. You can turn that vehicle into a bunch of teddy bears to help children in crisis. Our country's resources are not wasted. 3. Do you accept motorcycle donations? Yes. We gladly accept most motorcycle donations. We receive many motocycle donations each week. 4. My '91 Mitsubishi Mirage does not run. It needs a new engine and has some other problems (sun roof leaks water, sagging roof fabric, no A/C, etc.). Would you be interested in picking it up? Yes, even though there is very little market for non-running vehicles. Dealers and individual buyers, alike, are afraid of non-running cars, because it is usually difficult to determine how much money it will take to make such vehicles mechanically sound. We still, however, take chances on non-runners in many cases, always hoping for the clean one that can be put into running condition, relatively cheaply. 5. I have a Toyota Tercel that is not running and has been impounded. Do I have to pay the impound fees myself, before you'll tow it away? Yes. For us to absorb impound fees on a non-running vehicle would definitely put us in the hole. We just can't take on both of these costs and be able to achieve our goals of helping children in crisis. Most people pay the impound fees and rid themselves of the headaches of a troublesome automobile. 6. I have a 1989 Chrysler LeBaron that I want to get rid of. It runs but not well and it didn't pass the emissions test. Will you take it? Yes, usually. We'll pick up your automobile, even though such vehicles do not sell for much, as they commonly need extensive work to bring them up to governmental standards. Typically, the cost for such work will exceed what buyers will consider to be the vehicle's fair market value, even when such vehicles are brought to perfect running order. 7. Roughly, what is your turnaround time from the point of me submitting the Auto Donation Form to the point at which someone picks up my truck? 1-2 days is our norm. Vehicles parked well removed from metro areas can take longer. We have however, picked up vehicles on the same day we received their Automobile Donation Forms, although those cases are not typical. We shoot for two days and we are proud to say that is customary for us. Of the automobile donation services on the net, we can safely boast, "we are the fastest." 8. Would you be interested in a 87 Plymouth Voyager Van? It still runs, but its registration has expired. Yes. Expired registrations cause additional paper work expenses, but that will not be of concern to you, as we make re-registrations and all paperwork transfers cost are hassle free for you. 9. We have a van in Alaska. Can you help us? No. We're sorry but we can't. We do not pick up in Alaska or Hawaii. 10. What if we don't have the title on an automobile? Our automobile was sold to us by the family who owned it in New York for $1.00, but we have lost all its paper records. If a vehicle has enough value and the title can be gotten within a short period of time we have picked up vehicles without titles. Otherwise the title is definitely necessary to complete the transfer of ownership. In Rhode Island and New Hampshire titles are not necessary for vehicles over 10 years old. In Vermont and Georgia titles are not necessary for vehicles over 15 years old. In Connecticut titles are not needed for automobiles manufactured before 1981. In Maine titles are not needed for vehicles manufactured before 1984. 11. I will be out of town when I need my car picked up. I figure I'll leave the signed-off title and keys with my neighbor - Jimmy - or can I just leave everything in the glove box? In many cases, owners do not have to be present with their automobiles when those vehicles are picked up. Your signed off title and keys, however, do have to be present. How those mechanics are worked out has to be determined when our towing company calls you. 12. I was reluctant to send you the Automobile Donation Form, so I'm emailing you to get some questions answered. You may always email us with any questions you may have. Often though we cannot accurately address your questions without the data on the form. Many questions can only be answered by knowing what state you are from, the condition of your vehicle, etc. And remember, completing and sending to us the Automobile Donation Form does not obligate you in anyway. So, please, fill out our Automobile Donation Form, as best you can, then pose the questions you have, on the form itself. Then hit your submit button. Then you'll receive a prompt and informed reply to all your questions from our E-mail Council. Our E-mail Council knows all. |
